Welcome to YourFireDepartment.org! This site celebrates the work of the many fire departments in the Santa Clara County area and the wonderful Men and Women who serve with them.
This site offers information in the form of maps and photographs about the fire departments, fire stations and fire apparatus in the County, as well as image libraries and videos of fire department incidents, training exercises and events.
In researching this information I discovered Craig Allyn Rose's wonderful site, emergencyphoto.com. Craig is the official photographer for San Jose, Santa Clara and County Fire Departments, and he has the most wonderful photos. Many of Craig’s photos are used on this site with his permission, and our incident lists and incident map points directly to many of Craig’s pages at emergencyphoto.com.
To add to Craigs outstanding photos I have been collecting photos of my own, along with those of many others who have photos of fire apparatus around the Santa Clara Valley, and have included many of those photos on this site. It’s a one stop shop for all the action photos of the various fire departments in the region. I’ve also added videos taken by me and by others.
Let’s talk about what this site is not. The site is in no way commercial. There are no ads, there is nothing being sold, there are no subscription fees. Photos on this site are not for sale and are not to be republished without specific permission. This site is about the fire service and firefighters and is not about victims per se... but sometimes to tell the story of the fire department photographs may need to include a victim... I do not not knowingly invade a victims privacy and any personally identifiable information is obscured in photos (faces, license plates etc), graphic photos of people with injuries are not published (and are not normally taken).
If you see a photo on the site you would like to use, ask and I’ll usually say yes. If you are a fire fighter in the area and you see a photo of your apparatus, station or crew and would like a copy, please ask, I’ll happily provide it! Same goes for the departments themselves, ask and it shall be yours! If your department would like to invite me out to take photos of your apparatus or special event or training exercise or... well, anything department related, I’d welcome the opportunity to expand my library and at the same time would continue to offer you access to all the photos I take.
I am not a fire department, and I don’t officially work for one... My information is as accurate as I can make it. If you have better or more up to date information I’d love to hear from you so I can improve the information on the site. If you can give me a relevant photo I can republish I almost certainly will, with credit to you as the photographer of course. The site is non commercial so I can’t offer to pay you for any photos you may provide.
Since the site isn't about me but about Your Fire Department, I'll happily add pages, maps and photo libraries for fire departments in other areas, if you provide all the information and photos. Just email me at bruce@yourfiredepartment.org and we can discuss putting something together for Your Fire Department. Like everything else about this site there is no charge or fee associated with adding your department's information to this site.
I do have a background in Emergency Management in a past life, if you care you can find out more by checking here! For now I work at home in the Silicon Valley tech industry and have some flexibility to be out and about to collect photos day and night.
